All of the installed fragment paintings generate
an interaction between painted paper elements pinned
out from the wall, and the color cast on the wall by
unseen fluorescent paint on the back of the paper.
Many of the pieces consist of myriad paper rectangles
linked by staples in vertical strands which are pinned
to the wall at the top and bottom of the strand. Ambient
lighting - either fluorescent or daylight - is critical to
the effect of the work: it enables the paintings to float
in an indeterminate space in front of the wall without
casting shadows, and it activates the reflected color
on the wall behind.
